It is the biggest fine ever imposed on a Building Society by the FSA. It follows on from a February story:

Two recent stories about short lived accounts caught my eye. Chorley Building Society briefly offered an account in early October offering 3% fixed for two years, apparently for existing members only and only available to open at one of the three Chorley branches. Members were defined as holding a savings or mortgage account since 31st December 2013.

Despairing of bank and building society interest rates I am wondering whether to put some money into Castle Trust Fortress Bonds. As far as I can see they are no more risky than building societies as long as the investment is below the £50000 protection provided by FSCS. Am I missing something here? Any thoughts would
