Send them your comments in writing.

    Or alternatively email the CEO:

    graham.beale@nationwide.co.uk

I'll be doing that - thanks.

I think it is weird that I've been invited but the rest of my family who live with me haven't. Perhaps it is because I've removed all but £100 in the savings account I have with them plus a FlexAccount (which also only has £100 until I go abroad).

If I understand your email correctly, Nationwide were charging you interest, but have corrected this, and removed the interest charges. But now you are cancelling, you are again being charged interest.

Did they write to you to confirm that they were wrong to charge you interest?

If so, perhaps your best course of action is to reply to them with a copy of that letter/email, and stating that as per the attached, interest is not due on the account and therefore a) you will not pay the interest charge, and b) they must remove the interest charges and close your account.

I would also say that you have nothing further to add on the subject and will not engage in any more discussion or correspondence on the subject. Then, if they do contact you again, reply with a copy of that letter. Perhaps scribble on their letter "please see enclosed", sign and date it, and shove their letter plus your old one in an envelope and post it all back to them. The only exception I would make is if they actually start talking to you personally, and not just a form letter.

More likely, you fit the criteria they need for the session, and others in your family don't. They may specifically want to avoid having friends and families there, as you're likely to give response based on each other's experience, rather than just your own.

TOPCAT57, All interest rates for Nationwide are visible from the Nationwide.co.uk home page. When you then select Flex account from the drop down list it says very clearly (in bold!) FlexAccount and Cash Card Account do not pay credit interest. Seeing as rates are so volatile at the moment, I've been checking out the interest rates on my all my accounts with various providers and Nationwide seems to be one of the better ones about showing how much interest they are paying (or not!) IMHO.

They have even changed their advert now from Nationwide Proud To Be Different To Nationwide Proud To Be A Building Society. Don't know why they offer bugger all to members except terrible service

I think anyone can - but if you haven't received an invite there is very little chance you will know about these sessions.

    Thanks.

I wanted them to state that they are paying NOTHING on the account.

Stop moaning about them and their service. If you don't like or if you get a better deal go elsewhere (assuming elsewhere want your business).

Nationwide FlexAccount may not offer any interest, but they offer other benefits. The free international cash withdrawals and purchases for example. May benefit many people, may be of little use to many people.

Go where you think is best... The BOE rate is close enough to 0% now so I don't give a moneys about interest rates these days. The pillow is a lot safer!

We may have to face the fact that before long we may be glad of current accounts which don't charge us monthly fees; by comparison low interest rates seem like a small price to pay whilst free banking lasts!
