I've split your post into a separate topic Suzy as the other one was really about a bonus for taking out life insurance with First Direct.

.... I should perhaps have mentioned the automatic overdraft, of which the first £250 is interest free. If interested in the offer there's much more detailed info expanding the F&Q's

We give you an automatic £500 formal overdraft when you open your account — and the first £250 of your overdraft is interest free. We will charge you interest on overdrafts above £250, and we may apply an arrangement fee if you request an overdraft more than once every six months.
See Interest rates and charges for details of our overdraft fees. If your account is linked to an Offset Mortgage, interest on your overdraft balance will be charged at your mortgage rate.

Apologies for flogging this to death but you may also like to know the following.

If you switch and open a Savings Account as a new customer you also get 6%.
You can earn a whopping 6% AER over 12 months with the First Direct Regular Saver.
The 6% regular savings account allows you to pay in between £25-£300 per month, up to a maximum of £3,600 each year.

You'll also have the flexibility to pay in different amounts each month, so if you don't pay in the full £300 in any one month you can carry the allowance forward to any future months.

The 6% Regular Saver is exclusively available to 1st Account holders, but if you don't have a First Direct account you can currently get £125 to switch!
You'll also be given a £250 interest free overdraft and the First Direct switching team do all the leg work for you, moving your direct debits, standing orders and other regular payments to your new account on your behalf.
To switch your account to First Direct, claim your £125 and open the 6% Regular Saver just visit the First Direct website.

    Terms & Conditions

The Regular Saver is only available to First Direct current account customers.
No withdrawals during the 12 month account term.
Account offered subject to status and First Direct terms and conditions.
The 1st Account is available to new customers only. The £10 1st account fee will be waived if you pay in £1,000+ to your account each month or maintain an average balance over £1,000.

This isn't correct. Existing customers can also apply for a 1st account, although most existing customers will already have one. You just don't get the £100 bonus if you are an existing customer.

Or if you hold, or take out, an additional product with First Direct such as a savings account (other than the Regular Saver). This applies even if you only ever keep £1 in that savings account, so there really is no reason why anybody should ever pay the £10 monthly account fee. Having a First Direct credit card also gets you out of having to pay the fee, even if you never use the card.
