i don't think either machine is 'better'; it's true to say that many companies who specialise in desktop publishing or image work rely on Macs, which gained a reputation for ease of use and reliability as well as superior graphic capability. But the gap is narrowing, especially with the advent of the 'new' Windows' interfaces, ie: XP, which is, IMHO, a beast that is inherently more stable than any other Windows version, and will continue to evolve. For me, the difference between the Mac (yes, I've tried one) and the PC (with XP or NT installed) is so small as to be negligible. But the PC wins hands down with the selection and choice available to end users, and that can only be good for the development of computers. Depends what you're used to, i suppose: brand (or type) loyalty is a major selling point, and people i know who run both Macs (for serious work) and PC's always end up on the PC at the end of the business day...

I'm heavily biased towards PC's as that's what I've used at work and home since 86/87.
Mac's seem OK if you don't need extra hardware to get what you need.
For example, they have less upgrade potential as they have less slots available.
