    looking for a laptop

im looking to get a new laptop but dont really know where to start as my knowledge of pcs isnt the best
ideally it will have a HD screen and posibly a blu ray writer, but the latter is not essential.
other than the above two things it will need to be able to cope with warcraft and pkr.
Any suggestions or pointers in the right direction will be greatly appreciated

Very few laptops are currently available with Blu Ray recorders. The Acer 8930G is one such laptop and as it is equipped with HDCP graphics and HDMI output, it is capable of HDCP protected blu ray playback on an external screen.

With regards to HD screens, all laptop screens can be described as HD since the term HD loosely describes a resolution that is higher than standard resolution. For blu ray playback though you need HDCP decoding within the graphics card and a screen that also supports HDCP decoding and the Acer 8930G supports these features. At a price of £1250 it is not cheap.

A cheaper option would be Acer 6920G which also supports HDCP decoding and HDMI output to a HD Ready display. It is equipped with a Core 2 T5800 processor and an nVidia 8500M graphics processor which will cope with most current games at lower settings. It is priced at around £600 but it is only supplied with a Blu Ray ROM drive. A Blu Ray recorder can be purchased separately for about £400 from http://www.microwarehouse.co.uk/cata...2?cidp=Froogle

I find Acer laptops to have poor quality keyboard that flexes upon typing but they are remarkably good value given the features. Laptops that are similarly priced as the 6920G may offer similar performance but without the Blu Ray ROM drive.
