Bit a novel way... (I don't think we will be stopping that one for a while...).

May 2011
Given the current escalating cost of fuel, driven up by speculators, Flybe has been forced into introducing Flybe’s Fair Deal on fuel. Unlike other airlines we will commit to managing this in a way that is fair to the consumer and is in line with our very clear commitment to sustainable aviation.
THE FLYBE COMMITMENT: OUR FUEL RECOVERY CHARGE WILL ONLY REMAIN IN PLACE IF THE PRICE OF FUEL REMAINS ABOVE $75 PER BARREL. IF THE PRICE DROPS BELOW $75 FOR A PERIOD OF 28 CONSECUTIVE DAYS THE FUEL RECOVERY CHARGE WILL BE REMOVED.
Over the past 5 years Flybe has invested nearly $2bn in a modern fuel efficient fleet that has allowed us to protect our passengers from the worst excesses of the rises in oil prices. This combined with a systematic approach to hedging the forward price of oil has meant that unlike other airlines we have not yet needed to introduce a fuel recovery charge under our Fair Deal on Fuel.
However, the continued high level of oil prices means we shall introduce a fuel surcharge on all flights booked from Midnight on May 4th 2011 for travel from 1st September 2011 onwards.
To ensure the system remains fair, transparent and simple, Flybe will levy a single fuel recovery charge of £3.00 per passenger per sector. The fuel recovery will be clearly shown online when making a booking and will be automatically added to your taxes and charges.
PLEASE REMEMBER FLYBE’S COMMITMENT: WHEN THE PRICE OF FUEL DROPS BELOW $75 PER BARREL FOR A PERIOD OF 28 CONSECUTIVE DAYS THEN WE WILL WITHDRAW OUR FUEL RECOVERY CHARGE FOR NEW BOOKINGS MADE AFTER THAT DATE. IF THE PRICE OF FUEL THEN GOES BACK UP ABOVE $75 FOR A PERIOD OF 28 CONSECUTIVE DAYS FLYBE'S FUEL RECOVERY CHARGE WILL BE REINTRODUCED.
