    iPhone O2 £20: 600mins,1200 txts,unlimited internet,30-day cntrct

For those of you that brought the iphone 3G when it came out, your 18 month contracts should be ending this month.

I thought I'd let you know that O2, in their bid to keep customers from switching to another network, have released a new tariff called 'iphone simplicity 20'. It's similar to the simplicity tariff, but it includes iphone-specific extras.

The tariff is a 30 day rolling contract (good for those waiting for the next iphone to be released) and comes with 600 mins, 1200 texts, unlimited internet and visual voicemail, all for £20.

Basically, it's better than the £35 contract that I was on previously, but for nearly half the price.

If you want this tariff, you'll need to speak to retentions, as only they have the power to put you on it.

Hope this is helpful to some.

That's a very good deal. I hope this or similar will be around when my contract ends!

What’s the number for retentions department by the way or is it just call customer services and ask for that department?

I just rang standard customer services and then chose the options for 'upgrading' my iphone.

From there the guy checked I was eligible for upgrade and then put me through to retentions.

At first the lady at retentions said it was only 600 texts, but I got her to re-check and she agreed that it was 1200 texts

I believe if you have a PAYG iphone then you could probably join this tariff. However, you can't buy a new contract iphone with this tariff.

The reason the tariff is lower is because I've already payed O2 back for the money they used to subsidise the cost of my iphone (i used to pay £35 a month) so as I no longer owe them anything, I am paying a lower price which is more representative of the real cost of the calls/texts etc.
