i have the same problem with an inspiron.
Is this sort of thing normal with the Vostro 1500? I would like to be able to listen to music without any kind of interference
I have an Inspiron 6400 and never had interference of any kind.

Sorry to be the one that asks this... but how do you turn the vostro 1500 off??

When I go to the start icon, if I click the off button it turns the laptop off, but when I turn it on again it remembers where it was. Is there not a way to turn it off completely? The same thing happens if I just press the power button.

    Thanks for any help

thats an annoying built in feature of Vista - you need to amend your power settings as follows:

control panel > classic view > power options > change plan settings > change advanced power settings

    Expand Power Buttons and Lid

    Start Menu Power Button

change on battery and plugged in to Shut Down

Repeat for Lid Close Action and Power Button

I have set mine when on mains and lid shuts to Sleep, all the rest is shut down

That is because its going into hibernate mode.

To shut down click on the rightmost icon, which is an arrow pointing to the right. Should bring up a small menu with more options.

This offer has now expired. However, there is this: http://www.rpoints.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1159221 that I've just posted which is also £351.

so the new deal is ofr a vostro 1400: 120gb (rather than 160) and smaller screen.

is it worth waiting for an offer similar to the original one of about 320 pounds??
