Interesting. Dont understand these AMD processors though - whats the speed of it? Also, I know semprons are supposed to be the worst, but what about these Athlons?

Ive always had pentiums, so not clued up on these AMD ones..

Westside_P are you sick or somet. That has got to be the first none gangsta post i've read by you.

There was a time when everybody wanted amd in their machines cause they were better than pentiums. But looks like thats all changed now. Pentiums newer stuff supposedly out performs the Amds

Another thing looking at this laptop is that the battery is only a 4 cell. So wont last as long as others. Its only about another £25 to upgrade it to 9 cell which is what I would do.

I'm not to sure about AMD processors either. However, looking at Google seems to be that the processor is a 1.7 Ghz Dual Core. Not sure what the performance compared to Intel processors is though. What will you be using the laptop for?

Theres nothing wrong with the processor really, it will do everything you need it to, if it was a sempron then I'd be worried too but an X2 SHOULD be good, we've just ordered one for my mum and have another dell with a core duo of almost identical spec, once the Vostro arrives I'll run some comparisons on them but it could be a couple of weeks.

Yea, should definately do the stuff you need. Probably only minor differences comepared to Intel processors.
