How to get this deal
To achieve the above price (base only): Reduce the warranty to 1yr, remove the 19" monitor. Otherwise upgrade to the 20" widescreen monitor which gives you a discount of £60 due to FREE shipping.
Tip: Always take the offer through to the checkout. At this point all promotions will be added giving the best price, it's also the area where you can add any available discount codes.
Upgrades to consider
Dell™ A225 Speakers add £5.88
19-in-1 Media Card Reader add £11.75
640GB (2x320GB) 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive - Dual HDD Config add £30.55 - Limited Offer 10% Off Discount Details
Dell™ Photo 928 All in One Printer add £40.19
Get 40% off on Printer 928
Accessing Dell's website
If you are having problems getting Dell's site to load an offer via Rpoints then try clearing cookies then logging back on and starting over. If this doesn't help then check any third party programs that you are using that could be affecting access.
Tip: When you click the above deal and see 'Click here to visit Dell UK and earn points' just click this once and allow the link to naturally complete, several clicks could cause the direct linking to fail which would simply send you to the home page or worse, give an error message. _________________ Great Desktop & Notebook Offers From DELL

| Hi, my son wants a couple of these, but doesn't need the windows software. Is there any way for him to claim back the value of that, or some part of it? |

I think you might have to phone Dell up to get that sorted, might mean losing the discount from the discount code though. However, you can haggle with them on the phone a little. |

Do you have an example of the 'bad press'? _________________ Great Desktop & Notebook Offers From DELL |

I've been on the market for a cheapish Quad'ie for a while and did consider a Vostro until a mate pointed me to the following page:
http://www.gripe2ed.com/scoop/story/2008/2/5/04941/42489
Seems to be a US page, so don't know if the info is relevant to the UK or not, but doesn't make for good reading.. Certainly put me off purchasing a Vostro, until I hear of an "Official" fix. |

A quick read through suggests that the issues have been resolved. The "black screen" problem was due to third party software (Symantec anti-virus ) and the "loud fan" is now fixed via a BIOS update.

Hi ST, quick question about putting a graphics card in this machine.
I dont play the latest games, infact i hardly play any games, but i do watch a lot of HD films etc and do a bit of editing/encoding. I believe the HD 2600 is a good card for this, however there is still a lot of choice so im not really sure which one to go for, and if i need to upgrade the psu.
i was looking at this : http://www.ebuyer.com/product/128946 but they also have the pro version with 512mb for about the same price. £50 is about my limit. |
