E.ON (Powergen) - new lower online tariff (version 5) - time to switch

Anyone who is already on Energy Online, Energy Online Winter Saver or Energy Online Extra Saver (version 1 - 4) may find it is cheaper for them to switch to Energy Online Extra Saver version 5. There is a standing charge and a no standing charge option. Use a price comparison site like USwitch to check you would save money.

People who aren't with E.ON or Powergen may find they could save money by switching to this tariff.

This tariff is actually cheaper for our house than any other supplier - despite E.On's recent price increases.

Click here to earn points at EON: Earn 800 points per single fuel and 2000 points for dual fuel when you switch your supplier to E.on as a new customer. Cashback only awarded once E.on have certified that the application is both UK based and genuine. Cashback will only be paid by BACS to a UK bank acc

I have switched from the EnergySavingPlan to Energy Online Extra Saver 5, it is a better tariff for me and you can change twice every 3 months. It should save me some money unless their are any hidden costs. Have given it a go as I will be away for a month soon and they will average the new rate over the month I will be away. Thanks for the heads up

I looked at this and notice they don't offer the 6% discount when paying by monthly direct debit. So is the saving really that good if you are paying by monthly direct debit?

We were previously on Energy Online ExtraSaver Version 1 - we would save £15/year switching to this as the unit price is lower (although the discount is less).

Hi guys, Just looking at my previous bills with E.on (powergen) I did change to the extra online saver (dual fuel) but on the statement it says "ElectricityGuarantee 3 Plan"
The primary unit price for that plan is 14.95p per kwh
Secondary unit price = 8.788p per kwh

But my tariff was changed mid statement to what seams a dearer plan "ElectricityGuarantee 4 Plan"

Primary=20.661p per kwh
Secondary = 10.969p per kwh

Can anyone check their bills, im not sure if this is a change because I requested it, or an increase in their costs.

Which tariff are other people on atm? and can you give the prices of units?

Yes they won't give you the actual unit rate just a vague y'ou can save £50 a year.'

Where do they work that out from? When I worked for an electricity company we had to give the unit rate and work it out on the previous years consumption. Everything is a racket nowadays!
