Well... it's not that HD-DVD is a pup. Or that they suck at all. They had their shit in order well before Blu-Ray ironed out their kinks.
They just lost. Shit happens. So now you can get standalone hd-dvd players that double as dvd upscalers PLUS get a shitload of hi-def films dirt cheap. Just look it as a dirt cheap upscaler that you can get 400-ish HD-DVD titles for cheaps for.
It's a good way for people who still can't afford blu-ray to get in on the ground level, basically 
In 6 months, the HD-DVD standalones will still be useful, the xbox drive probably not as much. |

| People should remember, that due to the fact HD-DVD is now out of production, the DVDs and players are NOT being made anymore. Therefore existing stock is all retailers are selling, so get the films you want ASAP. |

However, you can look at your HD-DVD collection in 6 months time whilst I admire my 150+ collection of LAZER-DISC'S with you. My advise is buy BLU-RAY. |
