Frequently Asked Questions

How I can use promoter links to earn points?

You can earn money at this site simply for posting an offer in the discussion forum, as described at http://www.rpoints.com/faq/answer.php?id=340

Here's some more detail on how it works. There are two ways to earn promoter points:
- by submitting an 'offer' at http://www.rpoints.com/newoffer
- by publishing a link to an Rpoints partner site (e.g. including it in a post in our discussion form)
and appending your promoter ID to it

Submitting an 'offer' at http://www.rpoints.com/newoffer

When you submit an offer here, you are presented with a standard form - you fill this in, click submit and a new topic + link to your offer is automatically created.

On the form is a dropdown box with a list of Rpoints partner sites. If your offer is provided by one of these sites, select it from this dropdown list; the web link generated will automatically be converted into an Rpoints link so that members taking up the offer can also earn points.

As the person who posts the offer, you earn a bonus equivalent to 10% of all the points earned by people clicking on your link! (max 500 points per transaction)

Note: this bonus is awarded in addition to standard Rpoints awards and referral bonuses. Perhaps this is best explained with an example:

- Member "Dogbasket" posts an offer for a DVD player. He found it on Maplin Electronics which is an Rpoints partner site, so he submits the web address of the page where he found it and selects "Maplin Electronics" from the Supplier dropdown box

- Member "Garrettod" sees this offer, clicks on the Rpoints link, buys the DVD player and consequently earns 1000 Rpoints

- Dogbasket, as the one who posted the gift idea, gets a 'promoter' bonus of 10% of the points earned (i.e. 100 points)

If another 20 people also buy the DVD player via this link, dogbasket will earn a further 2000 points (10% of 1000 x 20)

Points earned in this way will appear on your statement at http://www.rpoints.com/pts

- by partner site (e.g. including it in a post in our discussion form)
and to it

Appending your promoter ID to an Rpoints link

If you wish to recommend an Rpoints retailer in a reply to an existing thread (rather than creating a new offer), here's how you do it:

http://www.rpoints.com/x/?s={SITEID}&promoter={MEMBERID}

Where {SITEID} is the id of the Rpoints partner and {MEMBERID} is your unique Rpoints ID. This is a similar linking method to creating bookmarks for your own use - see http://www.rpoints.com/bookmarks except that you use promoter= instead of uid=

E.g. If I wanted to post a promoter link to Tesco, I would use:

http://www.rpoints.com/x/?s=1298&promoter=450

As with offers you create, if someone uses your promoter link to buy something at an Rpoints partner site and earn points you receive a bonus equivalent to 10% of the points they earn (max 500 points per transaction)

Important: Promoter bonuses are intended to reward members for finding genuine bargains. To prevent this generous feature from abuse, we will withhold bonuses where we believe there is an association between the promoter and the member clicking on their link
